Fritz Gildemeister, Tennis Director
Fritz has been with the Dunes Club since 2001 and has been certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association as a Pro One for over 40 years. He has taught nationally ranked junior players, as well as juniors and adults of all playing levels. Fritz was a former world ranked junior, playing the prestigious Wimbledon Tournament and the European Circuit. Fritz was named “Pro of the Year” by Tennis Magazine and held 22 State Titles in the past 13 years. He has won two nationals tournaments and his senior 60 Intersectional Team also won Nationals. He has held Southern rankings as high as number one. Fritz and his staff have coached many adult teams to Local and State Championships.
Katrina Gildemeister-Barnes, Head Tennis Professional
Katrina started at the Dunes Club in 2013 and brings a lot of experience in many aspects of tennis programs. In addition to teaching men’s and ladies' clinics, she has instructed group clinics from tiny tots of 4 years to advanced ranked teens. She has also taught private lessons for all ages and skill levels and has been instrumental in developing nationally ranked juniors in the academy program. She coached many adult USTA teams advancing to State championships. Katrina has run special events, USTA tournaments, a WTA professional tournament and various Club programs. She is certified USPTA - Pro One and a USTA Official and Referee. Katrina participated in a USPTA High Performance workshop for 10 and under. In 2013, Katrina and her sister Marissa played on a 10.0 Mixed Doubles team that won the National Championship in Tuscon, AZ.
Marissa Gildemeister-Chapin, Head Tennis Professional
Certified as a USPTA- Pro One, Marissa has been at the Dunes Club since 2005. As a junior player, she was highly ranked nationally. She was selected for the prestigious Southern Section Junior Wightman Cup Team. With a full tennis scholarship, Marissa played number one at North Carolina State University while the team was ranked top twenty five in the country. In 2009 Marissa and her father earned the Silver Ball for Father Daughter Nationals and another with her 10.0 mixed doubles team. She recently earned her third silver ball as the finalist in the national 30’s Women's Singles.
Marissa was also named South Carolina’s 2013 Adult Female Player of the Year. Her achievements began when the USTA selected her as a member of the South Carolina Senior Cup team, which won their division at the competition held in June in Huntsville, Ala. She continued her successes when her Adult 18 and Over 5.0/5.5 USTA team captured the State League Title and went on to win the Southern League Championship, earning a trip to Nationals finishing 6th.
Will Bull, Head Tennis ProfessionalIn 2016, the Dunes Club is pleased to welcome nationally ranked tennis player, Will Bull, to our tennis staff. Will is joining our team with an incredible amount of teaching experience for both adults and juniors; he is looking forward to giving lessons and helping to expand the Dunes tennis program even further.
Will’s past work experience includes being the Head Professional at Lake Forest Country Club in Columbia, the Director of Tennis at Kingston Plantation, and most recently, the Head Professional at Prestwick Country Club.His playing history is vast, starting with being the Youngest South Carolina High School State Champion as an eighth grader in 1986 representing Myrtle Beach high. He was also the winner of 5 junior national championships and 10 adult championships. Will played on the Pro Tour and was the winner of over 50 prize money events across the country. He has competed in over 20 countries around the world. Will’s accolades include: Two-time junior player of the year for South Carolina, two-time adult player of the year for South Carolina and he was the youngest inductee into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame.
Diane Gildemeister, Tennis ProfessionalDiane has worked with her husband Fritz at the Dunes Club since 2001. Diane played her junior competition in the Midwest and played both number one singles and doubles for the Salukis Tennis Team at Southern Illinois University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Health. Diane is certified by the USPTA - Pro One status. Fritz and Diane, with their three children, have been named “Tennis Family of the Year” two times by the North Carolina Tennis Association and also in 2007 as South Carolina “Family of the Year."
